Ready Dough Pizza Inc. Recalls Pepperoni Pizza Products Produced Without Benefit of Inspection and also Due to Misbranding and Undeclared Allergens

EDITOR’S NOTE: July 29, 2022 – This release is being reissued to expand the recall to include 1,423 pounds of additional pizza products. FSIS identified additional types of pizza products in commerce that fall within the scope of this recall, including pizza products containing pepperoni, ham, bacon, and chorizo. These products were sold at retail stores and display a store-specific label. The products were either available to purchase hot and ready-to-eat, or cold to take home and prepare. The total adjusted poundage for this recall has been updated from 6,595 pounds to 8,018 pounds. The additional products, which also contain known allergens, were produced without the benefit of inspection. This release has been updated to include the new products, the adjusted total weight, additional labels, and distribution information. FSIS identified additional types of pizza and determined that the original weight calculation was overstated. The additional pizza products in commerce that fall within the scope of this recall include pizza products containing ham and bacon. The total adjusted poundage for this recall has been updated from 10,584 pounds to 6,595 pounds. The additional products, which also contain known allergens, were produced from April 6, 2022, through July 13, 2022, without the benefit of inspection. This release has been updated to include the new products, the adjusted total weight, additional labels, and distribution information. WASHINGTON, July 15, 2022 – Ready Dough Pizza Inc., a Hialeah, Fla. establishment, is recalling approximately 8,018 pounds of pizza products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. Additionally, the product contains milk, wheat, and soybeans, known allergens. Some of the products have no ingredient label and others have the wrong ingredient label. The frozen Cuban-style pizza items were produced from Jan. 12, 2022, through July 13, 2022. The following products are subject to recall l [ view labels ]: 14-oz. box packages containing “PIZZA CUBANA CUBAN STYLE PEPPERONI PIZZA”. 13-oz. box packages containing “PIZZA CUBANA CUBAN STYLE HAM PIZZA”. 13-oz. box packages containing “PIZZA CUBANA CUBAN STYLE BACON PIZZA”. The pizza items sold in retail stores are not in standard packaging and display a store-specific label. The following products are subject to recall [ view product photos ]: 14oz Cuban Pepperoni (Sauce and Cheese Restaurant) 13oz Cuban Ham (Sauce and Cheese Restaurant) 13oz Cuban Bacon (Sauce and Cheese Restaurant) 13oz Cuban Chorizo (Sauce and Cheese Restaurant) 1.6-pound Family Sauce & Cheese 14” Pepperoni Restaurant The products subject to recall do not bear the USDA mark of inspection. Additionally, the products did not have the proper ingredients statement. These items were shipped to retail locations in Delaware, Florida, and Pennsylvania. The problem was discovered during routine FSIS surveillance activities when it was determined that the pizza products did not have the USDA mark of inspection and were produced in an establishment that was not inspected by USDA. The agency also found that some products had the wrong ingredient label or no ingredient labels at all. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider. FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
